We are thrilled to present Tano Taiko, the adult performance ensemble from Taiko South West! They are joining us today to bring energy, rhythm, and spectacle through the powerful art of taiko drumming.
Who are they?
Tano Taiko have been delighting audiences across the South West (and sometimes beyond) for over 20 years. They marked two decades of rhythmic performance in 2024, and it’s a real testament to their passion, skill, and community spirit. Taiko South West
What to expect
- A live set of approximately 25 minutes, followed by up to 20 minutes of have a try.
- Big drums, bold beats, impressive group choreography — Taiko is as much about movement, timing, and the visual drama as about sound.
- A wide variety of dynamics: from powerful, thunderous rhythms to quieter, more delicate moments.
Why this is special
Taiko drumming has deep roots (in Japanese tradition) but here, it’s reimagined through local performers who bring their own energy, style, and creativity. The performance is immersive — you’ll feel the drum not just hear it, in your chest and through the room.
When & How
If the weather is clement ☀️ we’ve been kingly granted permission by the owners of the Priory to use the grounds otherwise in case of rain ☔️ we will be using the Kingswear Village Upper Hall.
